How it all began…..
Ey Up Flower grew out of a love for the outdoors and nature. What began as a journey to learn how to grow food slowly evolved into a space for growing and enjoying flowers.
With just two people in the household—one of whom wasn’t particularly fond of vegetables—our neighbours and extended family were often the happy recipients of courgettes and tomatoes. My cupboards overflowed with preserved goods, and every cheese board featured homemade chutneys. One recipe I still make today is a fabulous Tomato & Chilli Jam, originally from a long-gone restaurant I used to visit in London.
Over time, though, I began to notice how much food was going to waste, and my attention shifted. I started experimenting with flower beds around the shed and seating area. As I brought blooms home to enjoy, I felt a new kind of joy. That led me to enrol in a local floristry course—which I highly recommend—where I learned the art of floral design.
Energised and inspired, the plot took on a new life. Vegetables made way for flowers, and the space blossomed into something beautiful and entirely unexpected.
